Press: Black Panther Phenomenom Rolls onto Netflix Sept. 4

The phenomenon that is Black Panther makes its way to Netflix next month, one of the last Marvel films that will be available on the streaming service Goliath until Disney challenges with its own.

Believe it or not, its only been six months since Black Panther crashed worldwide box offices, packing theaters tight enough to make a fire marshall sweat uncomfortably. If it seems like more time has passed, it may be because the Marvel industrial complex dropped two more films, Avengers Infinity War and Ant-Man and The Wasp, to secure its global squeeze on the film industry.

But no matter how many properties Disney gobbles up and throws into tag team films or movies it releases with 70-star ensembles, Black Panther will continue hold up on its own merit. Racking up an astonishing $1.344 billion in worldwide receipts, it’s influence can be felt far beyond the box office. The impact was as much a cultural one as anything, even bringing Denzel Washington to tears. It’s popularity and message may have even sparked changes within the Oscars when The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences created a whole new and controversial category named, the popular film award. Many believing the Academy’s motives were to guarantee Black Panther’s inclusion in the award ceremony.

Helmed by Ryan Coogler and adorned by noteworthy performances by Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa) and Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger) as cousins with opposing ideologies that leave the fate of Wakanda and the world at risk, and rounded out by Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia) and Letitia Wright (Shuri), the film never loses any of the goodwill that it builds when T’Challa and Killmonger are offstage and is a film that looks to the future while paying homage to the past.

Now, starting on Sept. 4, you can enjoy Black Panther over and over again, until your head feels like helium and you find yourself chanting “yibmambe” through the city streets. But, make sure to get as much of it in as you can, because it will not last. Disney plans on unveiling its own streaming service late next year, where you can watch all your favorite Marvel films lined up like an all-star parade, next to Pixar, Lucasfilm and, of course, Disney movies.

Black Panther will be one of the last titles you will find on the streaming service as Disney plans on taking back its properties after Captain Marvel. Until that time, it’s Wakanda Forever on Netflix.

If it was up to Michael B. Jordan, Lil Wayne might be in line to write Black Panther 2.

EW has exclusive video of Jordan’s appearance on MTV’s SafeWord, where the actor plays a round of “Wakanda or Weezy?” The mission in the game is to decide if a quote is from a rapper or Jordan’s hit film Black Panther.

Tiffany Haddish makes a special cameo in her “ovulating boots” to read the line: “I do what I want to do and I’m gonna do that till the day I die.”

Sounds like something Erik Killmonger might say, right? Well, that’s what Jordan thought too, but the correct answer is actually Lil Wayne.

More like, Wakanda F(orever) Baby.

Press: Sly Stallone And Michael B. Jordan Sparring On The Set Of Creed II Has Us Pumped For The Movie

Creed surprised a lot of people by breathing new life into the Rocky franchise and now we can’t wait to see the sequel later this year. Our excitement for Creed II is only increasing as we get another look at the forthcoming film. Following on a pair of official images that were recently released, Sylvester Stallone has dropped another, unofficial image, which shows him taking shots at Michael B. Jordan while filming the upcoming movie. Check it out.

The image shows Michael B. Jordan, or at least Sly says that’s him, we can’t really tell because he’s got his gloves up guarding his face, while Stallone takes a shot to the body. We also see Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. watching it all unfold, possibly taking notes for some future scene.

I was incredibly excited for Creed when it came out and was utterly thrilled with the quality of the result. It only makes it that much more exciting that the sequel is on its way to us. While Ryan Coogler didn’t write or direct the sequel, we’re seeing a script that was co-written by Sylvester Stallone,. who is responsible for every other film in the series with the exception of Creed. The more interesting change is Steven Caple Jr. taking over as director. Creed II is only his second feature film, his first being The Land, based on a screenplay he wrote himself. This makes the director something of an X-factor, as we don’t really know what to expect from him. However, Ryan Coogler gave Caple Jr. his seal of approval, so fans likely don’t need to worry.

Creed was both the continuation of the Rocky story as well as the launching of a new franchise following the career of Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s longtime friend and opponent Apollo. Creed II will continue both of these threads, as it will be a sequel to not only the original Creed but also will follow directly on the events of Rocky IV. In that film, Apollo was killed by Russian boxer Ivan Drago. Creed II will see Adonis Creed attempt a measure of revenge when he fights Ivan Drago’s son in the ring.

The first trailer for Creed II focused on the relationship between Rocky and Adonis, and how said relationship was being tested by Creed’s desire to fight Drago. What it didn’t show us was much of anything regarding the other side of the fight. One expects will get at least one more trailer between now and the release of the film November 21 which will show us that side of the conflict, and likely tease the return of Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago.

Press: Deadpool 2’s Original Director Had Fantastic Four 2015 Cameos

Press: Deadpool 2’s Original Director Had Fantastic Four 2015 Cameos

The original director of Deadpool 2, Tim Miller, planned to have characters from Josh Trank’s 2015 Fantastic Four in the film. Deadpool 2 hit theaters earlier this year and it was a huge success for Fox. Fans were delighted by the sequel, which somehow lived up to the monumental hype. Though Deadpool 2 turned out amazing, the road to its release wasn’t all Wham! and unicorns.

Last year, fans of the first film were stunned when Deadpool 2’s original director, Tim Miller, left the project citing creative differences. Details regarding Miller’s exit were scarce. However, it was clear that his vision for the sequel didn’t align with other members of the production team – most notably, Ryan Reynolds. Since Miller directed the first Deadpool, it seemed strange that he left the sequel. Fox, however, quickly brought in John Wick’s David Leitch to direct. While we don’t know much about Miller’s original concept for the film, an artist for Deadpool 2 recently revealed that Miller planned to have the Fantastic Four cameo in the film.

Marvel Entertainment illustrator, Alexander Lozano, recently took to Instagram to share concept art from Miller’s version of Deadpool 2. He showcased early concept art of Juggernaut, Domino, Cable and the unused villain Blaquesmith. He then revealed that Miller had planned for Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell reprise their roles from Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. Lozano shared the concept art for the Fantastic Four, which you can see below:

Lozano’s concept art is intriguing and has led many fans to wonder what might have been. Sure, Fantastic Four was a critical and box office failure, however the cast was hardly the issue. It would have been a delight to see the actors reprise their roles. Maybe of the cast could have even redeemed themselves in the eyes of fans a little bit. Beyond seeing the cast together again, their cameo would have also been an endless source of jokes. It’s not that Deadpool 2 didn’t have enough comedic ammunition, but it would have been a nice change of pace from the endless slew of X-Men and Green Lantern meta-humor.

All things considered, Deadpool 2 was an excellent film and the recently released Super Duper Cut was even better. It’s doubtful that the Fantastic Four cameo would have changed much, but some fans still wonder what Miller’s version of the film would be. Much like Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, people who are invested in comic book films are curious of what could have been. It’s also important to note that Miller’s version of Deadpool 2 would have possibly been the last time the Fantastic Four cast was together on film. Now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox, it’s likely that Marvel Studios will recast the roles if they bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU.

Press/Video: Michael B. Jordan Surprises Fan Who Took Cardboard Cutout of Him to Prom

Michael B. Jordan knows how to treat his fans right.

The Creed actor, 31, surprised super-fan Audeva Agyeman after she took a life-size cutout of him to prom as her date earlier this year. Agyeman thought she was invited to the Creed 2 set just to look around and was told Jordan wouldn’t be there.

“I thought that was super sweet so I just wanted to do something special for her and get her to come by and check out the set,” Jordan says in a video of the surprise before sneaking up behind Agyeman.

Agyeman immediately freaks out and runs into Jordan’s arms before hilarious saying, “Oh my gosh, you’re touching me!”

Jordan posted the video of the whole exchange on his Instagram.

“I had to surprise @de.gye after hearing about her taking me (kinda. Lol) to Prom. She had no idea we would bring her to the set of @creedmovie but you know I had to show her some love since I couldn’t actually be her date,” he wrote alongside the video.

The former high schooler first went viral when she posted pictures of her with the cutout at prom, explaining that she had to come up with a date last minute.

“After not being able to get a prom date from procrastinating and waiting ’til the last minute, i spent 3 hours making my sexy prom date,” she wrote after the dance, captioning several photos of herself posing affectionately with the cutout.

When her post got picked up by The Shade Room’s Instagram account, Jordan popped up in the comment section to give Agyeman his seal of approval.

“This is called commitment,” Jordan wrote, along with some playful emojis.
