Press: Michael B. Jordan Meets Fan Who Tweeted A Photoshopped Picture Of Them Together

The actor praised Twitter for doing its thing.

Michael B. Jordan has thanked Twitter for meeting a fan of his for the “second time.”

The “Creed II” actor responded on Thursday to a tweet by Twitter user Bolu Babalola, who hilariously shared a photo of herself with Jordan photoshopped in.

The photo caught the attention of social media users, and eventually led to Babalola meeting Jordan in person and getting a real photo to cherish.

“Happy Twitter did [its] thing,” Jordan wrote. “Great meeting you (for the second time).”

It all started when Babalola shared the photoshopped photo last Saturday teasing that she met “this guy” over the summer but had “lost touch” with him.

She told BuzzFeed News on its morning show this week that she was inspired to share the photo, created by her friend, after reading about two friends who reunited via Twitter after meeting on a cruise ship years prior.

“It just got out of control, I was not expecting it to go that far,” Babalola said of her viral tweet.

Babalola then attended a Q&A for “Creed II” in London and took the opportunity to ask a question about the film – and to inform Jordan that her photoshopped photo had made its rounds on Twitter.

“We gotta get a real picture now,” Jordan responded during the discussion according to a video posted to Twitter.

Indeed the pair later took a photo together, and Twitter users who had been following Babalola’s story celebrated on social media.

Earlier this year, Jordan made headlines when he surprised a teen who brought a life-size cardboard cutout of the actor to her high school prom.

The actor brought the lucky fan, Audeva Agyeman, to the set of “Creed II.” She told HuffPost back in August that it was “one of the best days” of her life.

Press: Michael B. Jordan says his upbringing inspires him to give back to others

Michael B. Jordan learned to donate his time and money to others from a young age, thanks to his parents.
The actor, who’s promoting his partnership with Honey Nut Cheerios’ Good Rewards program, has teamed up with Feeding America to raise $100,000 for the organization.
“My dad manages a food bank and I grew up around that, watching service, going to food pantries and homeless shelters, and just helping out around my community as much as I could,” Jordan told INSIDER.

Michael B. Jordan was taught to give back to others since he was a child, which is why he loves to support organizations like Feeding America through Honey Nut Cheerios’ Good Rewards program.

“It just makes sense,” Jordan, who’s promoting his partnership with the brand, told INSIDER. “My dad manages a food bank and I grew up around that, watching service, going to food pantries and homeless shelters, and just helping out around my community as much as I could.”

The “Creed II” star went on to say that he can’t remember the exact age when he got involved, but vividly recalls sorting cans and packing lunches for churches or homeless shelters.

“From my earliest memories I think, it was just second nature,” Jordan said. “It’s not forced.”

Jordan considers himself “competitive,” which is one of the reasons why he teamed up with Honey Nut Cheerios. The actor is encouraging fans to make a Good Rewards account online and select a team to support — Jordan (Feeding America), Lucy Hale (ASPCA), or Rob Gronkowski (Gronk Nation Youth Foundation). After buying specially-marked cereal boxes, participants can scan the code on the back of the box and donate the Buzzcoin to whichever team’s charity.

The 31-year-old is proud to support Feeding America, which strives to provide food for millions of Americans each year through food banks, pantries, and meal programs.

Once the competition ends in April 2019, Honey Nut Cheerios will donate $100,000 to the charity with the most Buzzcoins. The foundation that comes in second place will receive $50,000 and the third place charity will get $25,000.

“I think a lot of people sometimes don’t know how to donate,” Jordan told us. “They want to do something charitable, but they don’t know how, so they don’t do anything. But this is something that’s easy, simple, and in their routine. I think everybody loves Honey Nut Cheerios — they love cereal — so to be able to kind of get a great box of cereal and get to help Feeding America… It’s a win-win.”

Press/Video: Check Out Michael B. Jordan Boxing With Sylvester Stallone On The Creed Set

We’re only a week away from Creed II hitting theaters, which means some of you reading, if you haven’t already, will re-watch 2015’s Creed to refresh your memory on what happened there. Michael B. Jordan doesn’t have to do that; he lived through it. But along with having fond memories of shooting Creed, Jordan also has access to behind-the-scenes videos of the creative process, like the one below showing him getting some boxing practice in with Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone.

Just because Rocky Balboa has been retired from boxing since the events of Rocky V (excluding his brief return in Rocky Balboa) doesn’t mean that he still can’t practice a little while coaching Adonis Creed. There’s a lot of different ways to prepare for boxing matches, and going a few rounds on the speed bag is one of them. Adonis does this several times during Creed, but there’s a particularly cool moment during one of the training montages where we see Adonis and Rocky both pummeling their speed bags at once. This is them practicing that scene, and you can watch the final version below.

As Michael B. Jordan notes in his Instagram post, he came across this video while going through his phone’s archives, and having watched the Rocky movies growing up and mimicked the boxing matches, getting to hit the speed bag with Sylvester Stallone was “surreal.” Even better, he got to do it a second time with Creed II. Jordan’s acted in various cool projects, but getting to work alongside Stallone in the Creed movies helps him feel the same way he did when he watched Rocky in action as a kid.

Having already followed in his late father’s footsteps and gotten a little boxing experience on his own, Adonis Creed (previously Johnson) headed to Philadelphia early into the first Creed movie to seek Rocky Balboa’s help in going pro after quitting his job and failing to get into the Delphi Boxing Academy. With Rocky’s help, and due to his true parentage being leaked to the press, Adonis ended up facing off against “Pretty” Ricky Conlan. Just like how Rocky lost his first bout with Apollo Creed four decades earlier, Adonis lost against Conlan, but it didn’t matter, because he had a bright future in boxing ahead of him.

Creed II picks up with Adonis several years later, where he’ll face off against Viktor Drago, son of Ivan Drago, the man who famously killed Apollo Creed in Rocky IV. Adonis hopes he can use this match to finally avenge his father, whereas Ivan hopes to use his son to reclaim the glory he lost when Rocky beat him. Since Rocky appears to be doing better than he was in the latter half of Creed, fingers crossed we get to see him briefly partake in some training with Adonis again.

Creed II opens in theaters on November 21.
